Details for the Welcome BBQ tomorrow! (Friday, September 16)

4:30 – 6:30 at Beaver Lake picnic shelter (rain or shine)

This BBQ is an opportunity to meet staff members and other families in the PSII community. It is also a fundraiser for a trip to Italy for learners who have shown interest in travelling this coming Spring Break.

If you are attending as a family of one of the learners who is part of the fundraiser, please plan to support them by staying until after clean up is finished. This process will start at 6:30.

Transportation: The school is not providing transportation to or from the park; however, we are supporting learners in making travel plans via bus. Please see (below) the most direct route from PSII to the Beaver Lake end of the park. It requires leaving the school in time to catch the 3:22 pm #72 Swartz Bay bus, arriving at the entrance to Beaver Lake at approx. 3:50 pm. This bus will get volunteers to the location on time. Other learners may want to take a slightly later bus. There are other bus routes that take learners closer; however, this is the easiest route because it doesn’t involve transfers.  It gets learners as far up Elk Lake Drive as possible and is less than a ten-minute walk to the picnic shelter.

In addition, I have added a map of the park with the “filter beds” parking lot highlighted.

Allergies: Please do not bring dogs that are not on-leash. Pets will not be allowed under the picnic shelter where the food is being prepared. Please note that we have learners with allergies/fears so we ask that you please keep dogs close to you in the field to the side of the BBQ area. We also have learners with anaphylactic allergies to nuts, tree nuts, and sesame seeds. Please do not bring food with these items to the BBQ. We thank you for keeping all leaners safe and able to attend! An allergy list for food items will be available at the BBQ. We were not able to acquire gluten free buns in bulk, but you are welcome to bring your own buns. We did get chicken breasts for those with gluten allergies, and we ask that those be ordered only by those who need them. The veggie burgers are gluten free.  The beef burgers are 100% beef.

Payment: payment will be availed through tap of Visa/MC/Debit and cash.

Hot Dogs $3

All Burgers $5

Chips $2

Pop/flavoured water $2 (we will not have bottled water. Please bring your own reusable water bottle filled if you prefer water.)

Learners who are planning to attend the trip to Italy: There is a list of duties that you signed up for in our Trello card. Please ask any questions that you may have through that card. We will be doing our best to keep all fundraiser planning on that card so that others can see it.

We look forward to seeing all of you there! On behalf of the school and all of the learners who benefit from our collective efforts, thank you!
